The jury of the GERMAN MEDIA PRIZE honors William Jefferson Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States of America, for his forthright, tireless and outstanding engagement for human rights. President Clinton embodies the hopes, aspirations and good will of all fair-minded people.

President Clinton’s use of the power and the dignity of this high office to advocate the rights of the oppressed and downtrodden repeatedly and eloquently testifies to his rightful role as an exemplary model of engagement for a new and peaceful world into the 21st century. President Clinton’s persistent efforts to resolve unsolvable conflicts shall serve as a lesson for history, now and forever.
